There are countless ways to incorporate whole grains in your diet and one of them is through snacks such as a granola bar.

Granola bar

I remember having in the pantry of the house boxes of granola bars of different flavours. I also remember carrying one for snack time but, it gets to a point when you can’t find the right one because they are too sweet or simply because you are bored of the same flavours all the time, so we are here to help you making your own granola bar with our personal touch.

The cereal or granola bar can be prepared at home with ingredients you have available in your pantry, choose dried fruits, nuts and whole grains which best suit your needs.

Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
  2. Line a baking square pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a small saucepan heat almond butter and mashed banana. Stir gently until well combined, it takes about a couple of minutes or so. Set aside.
  4. In a food processor, coarse chop the walnuts, apricots, and cranberries. Transfer to a bowl. Mix in seed and oats. Fold in the almond butter mixture. Press the batter into the prepared baking pan and then using the back of a measuring cup press the mixture into the pan until it is tightly packed.
  5. Bake for 25­30 minutes**. Let granola cool (around 30-45 minutes) before cutting into bars. Wrap each one on wax paper and store in the fridge (for up to one week) in an air container.
